How to Avoid Online Shopping Scams in Nigeria: 10 Ways to Buy Safely and Sell Safely

One of the biggest fears when paying an online seller is sending money and never receiving the product or even receiving less value of what you paid for. Click Here to watch a short video

The next time you want to buy something from someone you are not seeing physically, never send money to them and hope everything goes well.

Buying something online is easy. The difficult part is knowing how to pay a seller you have never met without worrying about being scammed.

You may find the product you want on WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, a website or even through a physical shop. The seller may be in another city, while you are hundreds of kilometres away.

The question is simple: How can you pay the seller and still protect your money until you receive what you paid for?

This is where Ogbele Pay comes in.

Ogbele Pay is a secure payment service that helps buyers and sellers complete transactions with greater confidence.

Instead of simply transferring your money directly to an unfamiliar seller and waiting to see what happens, you can make the payment through Ogbele Pay.

The seller can see that the buyer has paid for the transaction, while the payment remains within the Ogbele Pay transaction process until the buyer receives the agreed item and confirms the transaction.

This gives buyers an extra layer of protection when buying from sellers they do not know personally.

With Ogbele Pay, the transaction is created through the platform instead of simply sending your money directly to the seller.

If the seller fails to send the item, the buyer gets a refund of their payment. If the Seller sends an item that is not exactly what you paid for, the buyer can reject the item and seller has only two options, either to refund the buyer or replace the item.

This means you do not have to rely only on the seller's promise after sending your money.

Sometimes the seller sends an item, but it is not what you agreed to buy.

For example, you may pay for a particular phone model and receive a different model, or order a specific product and receive something completely different.

With an Ogbele Pay transaction, the buyer has an option to reject an item that does not match the agreement.

So in this case, the seller can either refund the buyer or provide a replacement after the item is returned.

This is where External Ogbele Pay becomes especially useful.

You do not have to find the product on the Ogbele marketplace before you can use Ogbele Pay.

Maybe you saw a phone on Instagram.

Maybe a seller posted a laptop on WhatsApp.

Maybe you found furniture on TikTok.

Maybe you contacted a business directly through Facebook.

You can still use External Ogbele Pay to create a transaction with that seller.

Simply agree with the seller on what you are buying and the price, then create the transaction through Ogbele Pay.

You should not have to stop a genuine purchase simply because the seller is far away or because the product was advertised somewhere other than Ogbele.

External Ogbele Pay allows you to bring that transaction into Ogbele Pay.

The seller can see the payment information, send the agreed item to you, and the transaction can continue through the Ogbele Pay process until the buyer receives and confirms the item.

This can make buying from sellers in other cities much easier.

Ogbele Pay protection is not only for buyers.

If you are a seller, you may have customers who want to buy from you but are afraid to pay before receiving their order.

The customer may be in another state, while your business is somewhere else.

Instead of losing the customer because of payment concerns, you can introduce Ogbele Pay and give the customer a way to make the transaction through a protected payment process.

This means your business is no longer limited to customers who live close to you.

You can sell to customers across Nigeria, whether you sell through WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, your website, a physical shop or another platform.

If you are buying an item that is already listed on the Ogbele marketplace, you do not need to use External Ogbele Pay.

Simply open the item on Ogbele and select Pay with Ogbele Pay.

Because the item is already listed on Ogbele, the item information is already available for the transaction.

The next time you want to buy something from a seller you do not know personally, do not simply send your money directly and hope everything goes well.

Use Ogbele Pay.

And if you found the product outside Ogbele, use External Ogbele Pay to bring the transaction into Ogbele Pay.

Whether you are buying from a seller in your city or from someone in another part of Nigeria, Ogbele Pay gives buyers and sellers a better way to complete transactions.

Buy with more confidence. Sell to customers anywhere in Nigeria. Use Ogbele Pay.
